Music Talk: Linkin Park & Poppy
00:00:40
Speaker
Thank you for having me. Thank you for coming on. um How are you doing today? I'm doing really good. How are you?
00:00:47
Speaker
Oh, I am doing a fan. It's actually it's actually a really good Friday outside of the world of video games. The brand new Linkin Park album from Zero Drops today. And I have been listening to that nonstop all day, essentially.
00:01:02
Speaker
ah Poppy came out with the new album and I still need to listen to that, but that came out today. So that's probably what I'll be jamming today. Heck yeah. I have listened to a few of her things. I know she, oh God, I'm going to forget the other band that she did that song with. Um, Oh no. Why am I so forget? Oh, I forgot. There's bad omens and not bad omens. That's the one. That's the one. Thank you. Thank you. You're welcome. ah I listened to that one. I'm like, yo, this is is this, is this When I said Poppy, I'm like, do they mean like the the the girl on YouTube was like, hi, I'm Poppy.
Concert Experiences
00:01:35
Speaker
And I'm like, oh, it is. It absolutely is. Yeah, she ran into metal and it's really cool. And I saw Bad Omens at Sick New World in Vegas back in April. And ah Poppy was a surprise guest. She came out and performed Van. And I started crying and screaming on top of my lungs because I never thought I'd hear like, see Poppy live, but also hear that song performed with me live.
Gaming vs. Music Discussion
00:01:59
Speaker
It was really cool. That's really cool. I recently got into Bad Omens like I think a year ago.
00:02:05
Speaker
uh at this point and I'm like damn I have been missing this for how for like years and I'm like I'm sad that I was missing out on that I'm gonna be honest I'm not the biggest bad omens fan but I really like the song they did with Poppy Fair enough fair enough.
Final Fantasy 14 Love Affair
00:02:22
Speaker
Well bags of video games because that's what we're here here for that's what the name of the podcast is Tony's game lounge not Tony's music lounge Although I could talk about music. like I think we both could talk about a lot of facets of music um for sure It would absolutely derail it I'm absolutely here for it But because you're brand new here We get to start off with the loading screen where we get to ask you for your favorite video game video game character and video game soundtrack
00:02:51
Speaker
Yeah. So um I was really thinking about this ah yesterday and they all kind of come from the same game because it's a fantastic game. So I want to preface with ah saying that I mostly play horror games and like games like Rust and like um kind of like that sometimes like shooters. So for me to even mention this game is vastly different from what I normally play. And I'm so shocked that it is my number one favorite and how great of a story it is. So um everything comes from Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy 14 is my number one favorite game. um I haven't played Dawn Trail yet so I still gotta play Dawn Trail but I'm more or less caught up um and that game is absolutely fantastic. The story was so hard hitting I was not expecting to get
00:03:38
Speaker
so emotional over a video game story. um So that's my favorite
Nicknaming Complex Characters
00:03:43
Speaker
game. My favorite character from 14 and just in general is Hythladeus. So um if you haven't played 14, then you probably don't know who that character is. It's kind of ah a niche character to in a sense, but um I really, I call him Hithy. I really like Hithy. That's a duo. I've not heard that one before.
00:04:04
Speaker
I have a lot of nicknames for the characters because some of their names are kind of weird. So i they're old timey British fantasy names. I mean, yeah, like the first time I saw Hythlodaeus, I didn't know how to pronounce that. I was like, that's a lot of letters. So I just called him Hithy. So he's Hithy to me.
00:04:22
Speaker
um And then Final Fantasy 14 has like the most fan fantastic soundtrack.
Soundtrack Opinions
00:04:28
Speaker
There's like only one song I absolutely despise in the entire game. ah what song What song do you despise? Oh, I gotta know this T. What song is it?
00:04:36
Speaker
It's in Endwalker. It's in that zone, what's it called, like Labyrinthos or something. It's like that annoying whistle song. Oh, yeah. I know exactly which one you're talking about. That song is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I'm like.
00:04:56
Speaker
Like this game would have had a hundred percent with the soundtrack But I have to dock them 1% because of that song like I cannot stand that song, but everything else is absolutely brilliant um When it comes to the music in that game, so nice how many hours do you think you've spent in 14?
Final Fantasy 14 Journey
00:05:14
Speaker
Oh, I have no idea. It's a good couple of thousand for sure, because I take my sweet ass time playing that game. um i so I started playing that game like maybe four years ago. I played for about a month and I was like, I don't I don't really like this game. Like it's kind of boring. I don't get it. And it's not really my thing. And ah so I kind of quit and I didn't get very far into realm reborn. And um and so um It was maybe like a year later when you had some like the bigger streamers, um unfortunately questionable streamers, but Aspen Gold and Rich Campbell were playing Final Fantasy 14 and ah my roommate was watching them and he also heavily plays Final Fantasy 14 and
00:06:00
Speaker
So between like the three of them, like, you know, seeing it on ah them on Twitch and my roommate talking about all the time, I was like, all right, I'll give this game another shot.
MMOs & Company Ethics
00:06:08
Speaker
ah So I came back to it and I just fell in love with the game. So um I've been playing, I guess, for about four years, more or less somewhere in there. Definitely have a lot of hours into the game, though.
00:06:20
Speaker
Yeah. I recently checked and I am, I think a bit over 2000 and I've just been playing. What did I get into the game? Like a year or two ago now, I think, I think two, two years ago now.
00:06:34
Speaker
um i well I was like when I was gifted X amount of subs from my moderator TC um and he's like hat now you have to play it because you hit the goal because I told him it's like hey if we ever hit this subs I'll humor you and I'll start the free trial.
00:06:51
Speaker
because I was very anti-MMO. I did not like MMOs. Now, granted, it stemmed from a place of very me despising Blizzard, which I still do. I do not like Blizzard. I do not play Blizzard games. It's my one valid. And it's not because their games are bad because they do have some good games. I will give them that. But it's because of of their ah company ethics and a lot of I mean, we covered it on the podcast. All the shit that came out of blizzard
00:07:22
Speaker
Blizzard over the years. ah So yeah. Overwatch was a fun game in the beginning. I bet it i bet it was. And I know that people say that Diablo 4 is actually pretty good. um I think they made some changes that people didn't like. and But it's it's it's gotten to the point of a mixed bag now. But I know that at launch people enjoyed Diablo 4. And I'm like, you know what? Good for you. I'm just going to stay here and not play it.
00:07:49
Speaker
yeah Overwatch is my first Blizzard game. I got access to like a closed beta and loved it. um Some of my friends also got access to that beta and then it went to public beta. and So more of my friends got to play it and we fell in love with it. and I sunk so many hours, like ungodly about of hours into that game and I'm still not good at it. oh I haven't played it in a long time, but like Overwatch 2 is just kind of ass, but you know, that's a whole other conversation. that is um But yeah, like
First Online Game & Streaming Beginnings
00:08:22
Speaker
Final Fantasy 14 was my first MMO I ever played, um technically like full blown MMO. I sunk a lot of time into Destiny as well, which
00:08:30
Speaker
Definitely has m MMO aspects. yeah no There are people on the internet who argue it's not an MMO and I don't know. like It checks off all the boxes. so It does. like I think going into Destiny, because I was young when I played the first Destiny,
00:08:46
Speaker
And I loved Destiny as well. um And like, playing Destiny 1, yes, it's very much an MMO, but as a young kid at the time, like a high schooler, I'm pretty sure is what or what where I was at when it came out. Which is wild to even say, um considering how long Destiny has been around now. But it's like, it's very much, it is definitely huge um elements of MMO just as a first person shooter. And that's how it disguised itself. And it wasn't until Destiny 2 took its divergent route of becoming free to play that we really noticed. Oh, it is just an MMO. Yeah, I actually have a funny story about destiny. Go for it. So Destiny was the first online game I ever played. um I grew up with PlayStation said a PS one and PS two. But by the time the PS three came out, I was really focused on school. I was a competitive swimmer. I was just kind of focused in like
00:09:42
Speaker
I was taking piano lessons so I was kind of focused on like extracurriculars in school so I i totally missed the PS3 era and gaming was just not on my radar at all in that point in time and then I got to college and I got a PS4 for Christmas and um Destiny was the first online game I ever played. I learned very quickly. I should not have used my real name as my gamer tag. And so um lots of interesting messages from dudes. But that being said, around that time, I had started streaming. And I know that's kind of like a question later on, so I won't touch too much on that. But um
00:10:19
Speaker
spoilers. Sorry, sorry, sorry. It's OK. Spoiler alert. So um my original setup was very jank. I did not know what I was doing. um I didn't have like a camera. My computer was a MacBook, so I was streaming from my PS4. Oh, I love that start because I had a very similar start there.
00:10:44
Speaker
like I plugged my headset into my controller and my controller was my microphone.
00:10:51
Speaker
I didn't know that there were times that people in the game could hear me talking. and oh so again brand new to online gaming so like I don't know these things um so I would like kind of shit talk to people but I had no right to do so because I am not good at shooters I'm not good at video games I just like to play them But um like, I would die or something and I'd be like, oh, I'm the queen of dying. So like that kind of became a thing with my community um over the years. so But um I would also be like, you're not even good at the game. It's just like yelling at these people. But I'm thinking I'm just yelling to myself and like the one viewer that I had.
00:11:37
Speaker
So oh I didn't know other people could hear me. So I wouldn't be surprised if there's like some random clip out there on the Internet of like this girl who's not even good at the game. You're yelling at people. That is hilarious that is hilarious. I love that so much, actually. That is so that's great I love that. That is great. Thank you for sharing that. You're welcome. OK, so moving into the second thing are hot takes. What what is your hottest video game take that you have?
Horror Games & Multiplayer
00:12:07
Speaker
Mine is, it's a definitely world. Well, I guess it's what a personal ah hot takes tend to be kind of personal, I guess. But um yeah, so um in recent years, there's a couple of game franchises that have their newest installments being multiplayer and it really pisses me off. oh So outlast one and two are some of my all time favorite games. Like I said, I play a lot of horror games. And what makes them so scary is that you are in the game by yourself defenseless and just basically getting chased for like four or five hours straight.
00:12:47
Speaker
Yeah, um what's an excellent story that goes along with both games and granted, you know, in the middle of me playing these games, I'm like, man, I wish I had a friend with me. I wish I had a friend with me. But like, that's just me panicking in the moment. And I got really upset when the third Outlast game was multiplayer. I feel like it takes away the scare value of the game. And so that really upset me because I'm a huge fan of the Outlast games.
00:13:15
Speaker
um And then Little Nightmares 1 and 2 are also some of my all-time favorite horror games. I love psychological horror and going through these games by he yourself and dealing with like the psychological aspect of these games I think is what makes it really eerie and creepy and like it's just it's just you in the game and they announced that Little Nightmares 3 is going to be a multiplayer and I'm like the biggest eye roll I'm like can we can we stop making story-based horror games multiplayer like if you start off as single player games
00:13:53
Speaker
Keep it that way. That's what makes it scary. If you want to go into multiplayer, just create a whole different game, market it like Phasbo or Demonologist or Dead by Daylight or whatever. So people know that it's going to be like like multiplayer, but it's not in that same story-based franchise, if that makes any sense. I don't really know if this is a hot take, but this really pisses me off because I love Little Nightmares, I love Outlast, and i like I don't want to play these games with people.
00:14:19
Speaker
I mean, that's fair. I know that Outlast 2 had like a co-op option, if I'm correct as well. At least I think it did. I might be wrong about that. But like, college and the likes i played it but fair enough. I feel like giving an option where it's not mandatory to have the co-op and yet it's still like the same experience, whether you have it or not. And it's still like a good experience. I think it's fine.
00:14:47
Speaker
Yeah, but like if it's forced multiplayer and I totally see where you're coming from with that. I absolutely see where you're coming from with that. I tried to do outlast three by myself and you can just tell it's definitely geared towards the multiplayer aspect. Oh, no, it's not impossible to play it by yourself. But it's definitely one of those ones where you have friends to Yeah, there's like certain parts of well, to be fair, I've never gone past the first chapter. But in the first chapter, um there are moments where I'm like, yeah, this would be so much easier if I had a teammate. And it's not because I'm scared. It's just like the task. objections yeah Yeah, it's more. of It's more of the task is encouraging you to
00:15:28
Speaker
with a multiplayer group. Exactly. So that's kind of my hot take. Like, I don't know, just oh that's ah that's a good take. I like it. I like it. um by I've been sharing it for a lot of new people. ah Super Mario 64 is a bad game casually. Interesting. Yeah, I get it. It's a monumental game. If it wasn't for Mario 64, 3D platformers probably wouldn't be where they are now. But it's a bad game.
00:15:59
Speaker
I've actually played a Mario game. So really? Wow. Yeah. um Again, I didn't grow up with like Nintendo or anything like that. I really only had access to PlayStation and I wasn't allowed to play a lot of games. um The games I could play was heavily censored. So I played like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot and Pac-Man and stuff like that. So.
00:16:21
Speaker
we We'll dive into more of that a bit later, because I definitely want to pick your brain more with that. But before we get into that, we have a bunch of things to get through, starting with our headline of the week, where SEGA is in the news for something a lot of gamers would consider scary,
SEGA Delisting & Digital Media Concerns
00:16:39
Speaker
delisting tiles. Over 60 games are going to be delisted on a lot of platforms, Xbox, PlayStation, Steam,
00:16:48
Speaker
Nintendo basically everywhere. they're set to They are set to delist a huge batch of classic back catalog games from the the digital storefronts in December. This includes Sega Genesis classic collections and a lot of games from the Dreamcast era. According to a FAQ on the Sega support website, the games will become unavailable for purchase just before midnight Pacific time on December the 6th.
00:17:15
Speaker
The games included in this include Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5, Nice Into Dreams, Sega Bass Fishing, Rest in Peace King, Shinobi, Jet Set Radio, and any like classic collection games that they have as well. However, games that are part of Nintendo Switch Online are the only things not being affected by this.
00:17:35
Speaker
the They're going to come into everything, and now there are theories in place of why this is happening. As we do know, Sega is working on remasters slash remakes for a bunch of their games, um like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.
00:17:50
Speaker
So the possibility of those getting delisted because they're getting the new remastered version soon is most likely the reason why. As for a bunch of the other classic titles, it probably means that they're going to make a new classics bundle potentially, just so that way everything is all in one place. But we'll kind of just have to wait and see on this. What are your thoughts, Minnow?
00:18:14
Speaker
I have been seeing more and more companies like announcing like delisting games. um I think I saw an article something about like Epic Games is also delisting. I think it was Epic Games. I think they're like delisting like six games or something like that. um What I kind of am starting to realize is um I kind of miss like physical media because when you buy something physically, you you own that. It's not going away. um And it's kind of sad. And I understand from like a business aspect to degree, but it is kind of sad to see like games getting delisted. And like, even if you've already bought it, you might still have access to play it, but it's just not gonna get any updates. But like, there's also times where they delist stuff. And like, that's it.
00:19:09
Speaker
You just no longer have access to it. Kind of like ah like Overwatch 2 came out, you can learn no longer play Overwatch 1. Like, it's just gone. Like, all that money you just spent on Overwatch 1 is just gone. Or like, for example, too like i bought I spent $80 buying all seasons of Metal Eclipse on PlayStation.
00:19:28
Speaker
and PlayStation removed their video player. So now I no longer have access to Metalocalypse despite paying $80. It's like you temporarily kind of own it. So it just makes me really sad to see like this happening with digital media. um It just kind of goes to show that you don't fully own it. Just licensing it, yeah. Yeah, I hope to see like a like a shift coming back to like physical media because of how much this is starting to happen.
00:20:01
Speaker
Yeah, it will be interesting to see, especially with the new Nintendo console being announced soon. Again, between here sometime now in April, realistically. as We'll hear about the Switch 2, finally. um And really, that's going to be a big determination of physical media, because Nintendo games love physical media.
00:20:21
Speaker
And if this next one decides to go on a more digital direction digital route, like the PlayStation 5 Pro did, where you had to buy the disc drive separately, ah he'll definitely it'll definitely decide the fate of physical game media. Just physical media in general, because even DVDs now are in Blu-rays, are kind of not as big as they once were.
00:20:47
Speaker
Yeah, they're like almost obsolete. I remember my first laptop was a MacBook Pro and it had a CD drive built into it, which was amazing. I'm a huge, huge, huge music fanatic. um And I collect CDs and it was so fun to kind of like take a CD.
00:21:04
Speaker
Put it into the drive and then have access to that CD on my computer as well as like the physical so I could put my CD in my car and And listen to it like that and like I had like a six CD changer in my car at that time, too it was amazing like I love physical media and then um Long story short, ah my sister spilled lemonade on that laptop and that laptop just never worked. Oh, no, not the lemonade. So um I ended up having to get a new laptop probably two or three years after having that one because it just wasn't working properly after that. um And by then, Apple had already gotten rid of.
00:21:44
Speaker
the CD built in CD player. And so you had to buy like an external CD player. And um I bought it, but I actually never used it because somehow tech companies and um like just media related companies do such a good job of hurting us all into a very specific direction. And they were very much hurting us into no longer having physical media.
00:22:10
Speaker
um And I kind of jumped ship from ah CDs to like Spotify. and um And then like, although I wanted the PS5 with the CD disc changer, or not just changer, of but the the CD like game insert thing, I'm losing my words now. I also knew that like, let's be honest though, they're gonna just push you towards the digital route.
00:22:37
Speaker
And is like it sucks at the cost board now to have the option to insert physical media into something. ah Even like the car I got after the one with the six CD changer, like I was so pissed because I couldn't play any CDs in that car. They just have a way of forcing you into wherever they want you to go, which right now is just our all digital.
00:23:01
Speaker
And now there's even an abate to to have for some cars to not even come with ah like a proper like built in radio anymore. Which is wild, but then it is i'm part of the problem because I don't listen to the radio. I mean, and the only reason I bring this up is because I work in radio. I used to. I used to have my own radio show. Actually, you know, that's sick. Yeah. And a metal metal segment ah for the radio station I worked for. Nice. That's that's pretty dope, actually.
00:23:30
Speaker
Yeah, it was really cool. All I did on my radio show, which was a college radio show that I had, was talk about video games. And that that translated into this somehow. And that ah and now we're here.
00:23:45
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, mine was also for college radio, but I mean, it was on FM. So like anybody could tune in in the area. So it still feels like very much a real radio station. Oh, no, absolutely. Like ah you know college college radio stations are legit the backbone of the radio industry.
00:24:02
Speaker
Oh, for sure. For sure. um It opened up a lot of opportunities for me. ah I've had various jobs in the music industry for about 10 years, up until COVID. So yeah. Yeah, nice. Okay, well, it's time for us to dive into everything else that happened in these past two weeks. It's time to take a look at the week in review.
Week in Review: Industry News
00:24:25
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review. Kicking it off, some of the last some of the games that came out in the last two weeks, we had Metal Slug Tactics, Planet Coaster 2, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Slitterhead, LEGO Horizon Adventures, and Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D Remake.
00:24:51
Speaker
And the one I want to ask you about is Slitterhead because this came from the I believe the develop the original developer of the Silent Hill series So are are you planning to play Slitterhead or are you waiting on it? Like what are you what's your opinion with Slitterhead so far? I'm gonna be honest. I've never heard of it. Really? Yeah, that's new to my radar I haven't been keeping up with newer games as much um Like I play like a lot of indie horror, I guess is my favorite. But that's not to say I don't play like bigger titles. Like I love I played a handful of the Resident Evil games, freaking love them. um and Like I played like some of the bigger horror games. But um I played the original Silent Hill a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish the game because I had some personal life that took me away from streaming. So I never got to finish it, but I really enjoyed it. I got just past like
00:25:47
Speaker
the Midwich Elementary section. I don't know how far into the game I was, but I got to the school at least, and which now I like that map in Dead by Daylight because I know where I'm going now in the map because I played the game. But but ah I was like, oh, OK, I'm no longer lost. I know what's happening. And there's like a lot of cool Easter eggs in the DVD map that um kind of like pay homage to the original Silent Hill game. But yeah, I I really want to play Silent Hill 2 Remake. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Like they've done a fantastic job.
00:26:24
Speaker
Same, like I really want to get into the Silent Hill franchise, like in terms of video games, I love the movie. um And they're remaking the movie as well. Yeah, I heard about that. Are they going to do that justice? That's what I'm more curious about, because if they can, yeah then that's another win for video game movies, which they've been getting some good ones. But then we also have the Borderlands movie, which really set us back a bit. I think it's interesting to see the shift in Hollywood kind of creating video game movies I heard they recently announced that they're making an outlast movie um Yeah, and I'm like I hope to God that is we know he is hell like who's who's picked it up though like who
00:27:09
Speaker
doing it I'm not sure I would, I have to look into that. I just kind of briefly saw like a headline. You know how like Google like pushes like, Oh yeah. I just kind of briefly saw it, but I was focused on something else. And so I didn't really look more into it, but I was like, Oh, that's interesting. Um, there was like the five nights at Freddy's movie. Um, Oh, shit okay. I, I'm looking at it right now. It's wise gate and red barrels.
00:27:34
Speaker
Okay, Lionsgate should do pretty okay with it. I trust them with horror. Yeah, I would trust them. They do the Saw franchise. so Oh, okay i would okay. I think they're fine. Yeah, no, absolutely. If they if they do that, I'm not a big horror guy, but I can respect the horror genre. Yeah, for sure. ah But like not even horror related, I mean, I freaking loved the Dungeons and Dragons movie. I thought that was a really well done movie. I still haven't seen it.
00:28:02
Speaker
it's really good I never I've never played D and&D but like I know a lot of D and&D references from just I mean video games across the board in all genres reference D and&D yeah um so like I know a lot of the references and I thought it it was really interesting how you kind of go through like this Campaign in the movie and what I hope they do in a in this like second movie is like a whole separate campaign because there's so much you could do a D and&D like the world is yours and So I think that would be kind of cool. I did play a little bit of Baldur's Gate 3 That's the closest I played to in d a D&D game, but I really enjoyed the movie I thought it was very digestible for people who haven't played D and&D But I have friends that do play and they saw the movie and they were head over heels for the movie So like it definitely
00:28:51
Speaker
caters to people who've never played and who have played and I think they did a really good job balancing that. Absolutely, absolutely um Getting into the video game news starting off Nintendo Made an announcement about the switch to or the successor to the switch that it will have backwards support for the Nintendo switch games Which is that which is good because people were wondering if it would and now with that confirmation out of the way Now we just wait and see what the new gimmick will be Which hopefully it's a good gimmick and not like the Wii U gimmick not that the gimmick was bad But the Wii U just wasn't great
00:29:25
Speaker
Also with Nintendo, they revealed the brand-new Donkey Kong area of Super Nintendo World and Universal Studios Japan, guided by our tour guide Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario. He took us around the area and it looks fantastic. There's a rhythm-based conga activity for three players.
00:29:47
Speaker
Kong panels are all scattered around the area and are scannable with the new power bands. I believe it's a DK and a Diddy Kong power band, but the original Mario power bands that you get in the Mario area work as well. And a whole bunch of other secrets that I have scattered around that they didn't show. The Jungle Beat Shakes is the concession stand where you can get the DK Crush Sundae and the DK Wild Hot Dog.

The DK Street House is nice front and center and kind of in the middle of the area, which is, of course, what is DK World, of course it is. And also there will be a DK mascot walking around as well occasionally. The gift shop is called Funky's Fly and Buy Gift Shop. So based off of Funky Kong, which very Funky Nintendo, very cool. And the main ride is a minecart roller coaster.
00:30:42
Speaker
ah Which is which i we didn't get to see the exact name of the ride. ah You can see the sign ah a little bit in the back when they were teasing it up. But it was partially blocked so we actually don't know the full name. Or at least if you if you do some digging you can probably find out what the full name is. The park opens up December 11th and next year as well as Nintendo World nintendo world Florida as part of that brand new big um Expansion to Universal Studios Florida will be opening up with both the Mario and the Donkey Kong areas, which is very, very exciting. I definitely want to go there because I like Nintendo and I think theme parks are cool.
00:31:26
Speaker
In parts are so fun. They really are. Yeah. I don't get to go often, but I have been to um the Island of Adventure section of Universal. Yes. When I went, they had just started building the Hogwarts castle. Oh, so that was kind of cool to see. But um I think that was like the last time I've been to theme park, but they're so fun.
00:31:46
Speaker
They are. I want to go again. Don't know when I'll have the time to, but I want to go again. ah Also with Nintendo, a lot of things happening with Nintendo. Nintendo is suing streamer Jesse Keon for repeatedly streaming pirated Nintendo games ahead of their release dates.
00:32:03
Speaker
ah Nintendo said Kian, who goes by every game guru across streaming and social media platforms, has streamed 10 then unreleased Nintendo games over the past 10 years, with titles as recent as Mario and Luigi Brothership, Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and Super Mario Party Jamboree.
00:32:21
Speaker
Which it goes to show how about you just don't do that, folks, because Nintendo isn't scared to take you to court. It's what they're really, really good at is taking you to court and winning. but Well, that and then like it kind of makes streamers like it kind of gives us a bad look. Like if it's going to keep doing that, then companies aren't going to want to send us out like steam keys and stuff like that, you know.
00:32:46
Speaker
yeah don't Don't be like him. you like Be like us, the good streamers.
00:32:55
Speaker
And I did some more Donkey Kong news. A brand new Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddy's Conquest cheat code was recently discovered 30 years after the game's release um by pressing right and Y, left and A, up and B, and down and X in that order.
00:33:12
Speaker
It allows the player to exit any level at any time and return to the overworld map, even if they haven't completed the stage yet. And this was first discovered not that long ago, which is kind of surprising. um That was just discovered. But if you think back about it, leaving a stage in the middle of the stage wasn't really heard of back in the day. So there you go. Fun little cheat code that was found.
00:33:35
Speaker
In some Xbox news, Death Stranding was surprise dropped on the console and now Xbox players have access to it. Unless they've played it on PC or other means. But there you go, more Hideo Kojima for the Kojima stands.
00:33:55
Speaker
ah In Halo news laced records has arranged a halo LP box set that's currently available to pre-order This is it's actually returning. This is a looted edition package is coming out April 2025 So now, uh, when you pull up, uh, with the boys and bring your entire, uh, big old Voxophone to listen to your halo LP, you and the boys can sing along with the ho. Oh God, I lost my voice there being mid breath. Uh, but the good old halo meme of singing in the bathroom. Now you can do that with the Voxophone in the bathroom with you too, which I really hope someone does that now that I've said that, because I think it would be hilarious.
00:34:40
Speaker
Stardew Valley's 1.6 update is now on console and mobile devices, and mobile devices or have a secret menu command to access multiplayer. um This is a test run for mobile multiplayer in Stardew Valley, um and we'll see how far they can push it with the multiplayer on mobile devices.
00:35:04
Speaker
In TV show news, Fallout Season 2 has begun filming and McCully Culkin has joined the cast officially. Uh, so kind of see what it's going to be funny seeing a grown up Kevin from home alone in the middle of the apocalypse. I kind of see that show, but yeah, that sounds interesting. I've heard nothing but good things. I've all my friends have watched it, but I haven't mostly because I'm not like the biggest Fallout fan. Uh, like I've played that I've played the game, the games and by the games. I mean, I've played Fallout 4 and that's it. I own a couple of games. I've never played them.
00:35:41
Speaker
So that's why I haven't like been quick to watch the show, but I've heard fantastic things about it. Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things. ah In straight,
00:35:53
Speaker
question mark news, WebFishing has received complaints from the anti-LGBTQ community about there being a title for every Um, like sexuality under the sun, like for the LGBTQ community, which is fantastic. It is a great, another great reason to play web fishing, but they're complaining because there's no straight title. So the developer got petty and added one in and made it worth 10,000 coins instead of 75 coins. Like all the rest of them, isn't like the whole like anti LGBTQ people, like don't they hate titles? And now they're coming.
00:36:31
Speaker
title stop contradicting yourselves ellves yeah ah love the developer pettiness though that's amazing yeah it is it absolutely is um a shout out to the web fishing developer ah guy guy it also guys it's a fishing game where you're doing nothing but fishing are you really getting strung up over that small thing really exactly
00:36:55
Speaker
Konami has finally revealed who played Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3, the original one, after 20 years! The alias Suzetta Monet is actually Jody Benson! As in, the same Jody Benson, who voice acted Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Barbie in Toy Story, and Thumbelina.
00:37:18
Speaker
I thought that was really cool. um I plan to play the Metal Gear Solid series next year, and I'm so excited to get into them. um But yeah, I thought that was wild that nobody knew who voiced that character for so long. Yeah, and it was fully revealed. And it's just because I believe is they're using like the exact same voice, lot the voices from the original game in Delta, the remake for Metal Gear Solid 3. So they're just like, yeah, that's it's it's Jody Benson.
00:37:46
Speaker
It's crazy. And she's done such a notable character from our childhood. Yeah. this but Specifically Ariel. Like that is yeah huge. It really is. Which also means it's time for the fan animators to make Eva Ariel in some fan animations where it's just the same voice lines, but it's just Ariel saying them instead, which I think would be funny.
00:38:09
Speaker
It's steam news steam game recording has officially exited its beta is now available for all users to use I haven't used it yet because I haven't had a reason to But why if you want to record your your stuff, you know, you can um The Binding of Isaac creator, Edna McMillan promised online collaborative play for the Binding of Isaac Rebirth last year and it's finally out now. So now you can finally play the Binding of Isaac with your friends and die in whatever state of purgatory you're in in that game because that game is weird. I played a little bit of it when I first got my PlayStation 4 because it was free.
00:38:51
Speaker
And I really didn't understand what the game was. It was creeped out by a couple of things. And yeah. but Yeah. ah Yeah. Yeah. Back to Nintendo. Nintendo's Alarmo, which has a surprise. I mean, it's not really surprising. A surprising hacking modding scene. Well, it's led to the alarm, the Alarmo being able to run Doom.
00:39:19
Speaker
Because of course, that's what you got to do when a new piece of technology comes out is see if it can run Doom. And it can. It can run Doom. So good job, Alarm. ah Good job, Nintendo. You need another device that can run Doom. We can add that to the collection of smart fridges and smart microwaves and smart homes.
00:39:42
Speaker
Oh, God, i i I want to see what other things the hacking community has done for the Alarm. Oh, because there's got to be some crazy stuff out there that they have done at this. Oh, for sure. It's always entertaining to see what they're up to. It really is. Dragon Age the Veilguard was revealed that they will not be receiving DLC as BioWare has shifted focus entirely to its next Mass Effect project.
Game Updates & New Features
00:40:09
Speaker
Now they just got to make sure it's not as bad as, uh, the previous mass effects and drama. That's what it's called. I was about to call it Pandora, but I'm like, no, that's not right. That doesn't sound right. Uh, immortal. Oh, sorry. Go ahead.
00:40:23
Speaker
Oh, sorry, I was just kind of agreeing. I think it's interesting, though, that like they're not ah doing a DLC. I feel like games or like game developers are thriving off of DLC era.
00:40:35
Speaker
I mean, yeah, I think it's like it's very rare for like a triple A game. to not have some form of like post-launch DLC in there somewhere. But it by honestly, I don't care if it gets DLC. I think if it gets free up, if it gets paid DLC, I don't care. If it gets free updates, that's great. I love that.
00:40:58
Speaker
But yeah, we'll wait and see on what they're they're cooking up at BioWare. In Mortal Kombat 1 news, Ghost Face is coming to the game on the 19th. I'm so excited. Have you seen the the the kill animation for Ghost Face? Like the ah fatality? I haven't seen the fatality. I just seen like the main gimmicks of like it's three of the ghost faces as one character.
00:41:26
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's like really, it's so well done. um Somehow the person who animated it popped up on my Twitter timeline. And i think I think they said this was like their first like paid gig that they've ever done. So like kudos to you if I remember that correctly.
00:41:43
Speaker
Um, but they are clearly a scream fan and it is so well done. I highly recommend you go look up the fatality like animation for ghostface. It's got me, I don't play Mortal Kombat that much, but it's got me really excited. so Nice. In some Xbox news, in a Bloomberg interview, Phil Spencer brought up that if Xbox was to release a handheld device, it would be a couple years out as their focuses are elsewhere at the moment. And they've also actually kind of solidified this as they just started a brand new advertising campaign with Xbox. So interesting to see where that's gonna go. Capcom and Tencent are releasing a brand new Monster Hunter
00:42:27
Speaker
Monster Hunter mobile game it's called Monster Hunter Outlanders and this is very different from the other Monster Hunter mobile game that we currently have which name I can't remember at the time at this moment um But the upcoming game is described as an open-world survival game set in the Monster Hunter universe and will feature a character collection aspect aka a Gotcha So, a Monster Hunter gacha game in the works and mobile only. Don't know if it'll come to Steam or Epic like Genshin or Hong Kai. I have to wait and see on that aspect.
00:43:06
Speaker
In some Rockstar Games news, they quietly rolled out a brand new update for Grand Theft Auto, the Trilogy Definitive Edition, with a patch that more accurately restores elements of the original games. The improvements for the Definitive Edition are only available for current gen consoles, the PS5 and Series X, and PC releases of the game. So if you have a PS4 or Xbox One version of the collection, that will this update will not be on those versions.
00:43:36
Speaker
um But also with this update the games are I think from what I heard from this is like the games now actually run Properly and don't run like shit anymore. So that's nice that at least but yeah Back in the world of licensing and digital media and things getting delisted to California gamers are suing Ubisoft to the proposed class action lawsuit over the developer and publishers recent shutdown of the crew Which we covered I believe a week or a couple weeks ago ah crew shut down California introducing a new law about being About clarity on whether or not people are like purchasing a game or actually what just licensing it And this is enticed to that So after the servers shut down the game became totally unplayable due to its lack of single-player offline mode When the shutdown was announced on December 14th 2013
00:44:30
Speaker
Ubisoft did offer requests to people who recently purchased the crew, but given the age of the game, a lot of players were unable to participate in that offer. The lawsuit says players were duped in two ways. First, by allegedly misleading players into thinking they were buying a game when they were merely licensing it, even if a player bought a physical disc. And second, that Ubisoft falsely represented that the crew's files were on its physical disks to access freely, and that the disks weren't simply a key for the game. Ubisoft is violating cal California consumer protection laws that the lawsuit alleges.
00:45:10
Speaker
So there's your update to this big Ubisoft story on the crew. We will be covering more of this next time if there is any other major updates to it, which hopefully there will be because this is ah juicy stuff. We love it. We love it. I love it when there's lawsuits in the news because I just get to sit back and eat some popcorn and watch it all unfold.
00:45:34
Speaker
And lastly, in the world of regular video game news, after almost 20 hours, 111 games and a 1.92 win-loss ratio, Call of Duty Black Ops player Pilgor1 revealed that they have managed to reach Prestige 1 without getting a single kill and only doing objectives within the multiplayer mode. Oh, wow. That's kind of crazy to think, you know, the game about shooting other people You you reach like the prestige level without doing that. Yeah, I feel like that's kind of going against what the game is about. Oh, just a little bit, you know, but like kind of impressed at the same time. It's very impressive. And I don't know if they're going to try to get like prestige to doing the same thing or not. But ah if they if they do, good luck.
00:46:33
Speaker
That's, uh, I don't know what to say. You have a gun and you're not going to, they have a gun and they're not going to use it. I think that goes against like 75% of America. Right.
00:46:47
Speaker
ah You're not wrong. Uh, in the world of live service, game news, starting off with Final Fantasy 14 7.1, that update is out now adding the brand new Alliance rates on trail, uh, new MSQ stories.
00:47:03
Speaker
which the twist for 7.1 really good, actually. I enjoyed it a lot. um And more updates for the 7.1 patch will be rolling out within the next couple of weeks, including 24 Man Savage, aka Khaotic Mode for Cloud of Darkness, new Hildebrand Missions, and the Capstone Quests for both Crafting and Combat.
00:47:26
Speaker
In the world of other battle royales, live service free-to-play games, and other MMOs, Blizzard is giving players a chance to relive the original version of Overwatch with a new limited time mode for Overwatch 2. It's called Overwatch Classic Mode and will feature the original 21 heroes and 12 maps, plus all of the unbalanced and chaotic gameplay from Overwatch Overwatch 1.0. Giving Overwatch 2 players a taste of how the game played back in May of 2016.
00:47:55
Speaker
This is a looted time game mode available until December 3rd. I just want to say that this is absolutely embarrassing for Blizzard. They know Overwatch 2 sucks and they know we miss OG Overwatch. Like, roll it in with an entire squad as Torbjorn. You just had to be there. Oh, wow. The whole squad as Torbjorn? Oh, my God.
00:48:20
Speaker
Look, there was a lot of chaos and it was fun. like Original Overwatch was fun, but I feel like a lot of games are offering like opportunities to play like the original versions of their games and stuff, but I feel like coming from Blizzard with Overwatch, it's just kind of embarrassing because Overwatch 2 has just been so bad.
00:48:39
Speaker
yeah it's ah world ah Speaking of Blizzard ah giving us old versions of stuff, World of Warcraft made a bunch of new announcements during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary livestream. Starting off, Mists of Pandaria Classic is coming out next year in Summer 2025. Housing is coming to a World of Warcraft after 20 years and should be available come the next major expansion.
00:49:03
Speaker
And also Blizzard will be launching World of Warcraft Classic 20th Anniversary Edition. It say set of it all is a set of an all-new fresh classic realms offering players a brand new start even playing and an even playing field for another run at Vanilla World of Warcraft's early years.
00:49:22
Speaker
So they're really trying to sell nostalgia on this and I don't know. and they Essentially you're you're relaunching World of Warcraft's classic as just an anniversary edition of it. And it's just like, you already have classic though. Why would you do? Well, why? Blizzard be blizzarding. I think nostalgia is probably all they have really going for them at the moment, more or less, I guess. um In my opinion, I don't know. I i don't know i i think you're i think you're right. i just They just keep fumbling with like a lot of new stuff they're trying to do, so it's probably best they just regroup and go back to nostalgia. I can't wait for them to announce a new mobile game next year for Evolving World of Warcraft. That'll go over very well. Oh, geez.
00:50:17
Speaker
ah In Destiny 2 news, Destiny 2 is collaborating with Street Fighter 6. The tie-in will include emotes, finishers, including the spinning bird kick in Hadouken, and a Blanca helmet ornament that any class of Guardian can wear.
00:50:34
Speaker
Uh, so that's, that's cool. I played street fighter six. It's fun. I liked it. Uh, speaking of street fighter six, cause I'm going to forget if I don't shout this out. Hey, actually a brand new street fighter six video just came out on Friday. Uh, this is the third of four street fighter six videos coming out on my YouTube channel. Go check them out.
00:50:54
Speaker
ah And in the world of TCG starting off with Pokemon surging sparks is out now and in Pokemon TCG pocket news Which is available free to play right now. The game has officially made 12 million dollars USD um In a report that they released it's like yeah, they we've made 12 million bucks off you guys. Thanks for the money. Haha Pokemon laughing their way to the bank, which honestly yeah makes sense We all bought into this hugely and pocket is really fun And currently with some ongoing events the genetic apex emblem event is on until November 27th where if you get 45 wins under the event you'll have obtained all of the Emblem rewards, which are just some pokeballs with different crowns on them.
00:51:42
Speaker
In Yu-Gi-Oh! News, Quarter Century Bonanza is out now. Speed Duel Battle City Finals comes out November 22nd. Crossover Breakers on December 5th. And Supreme Darkness on January 23rd. And Magic the Gathering, the Foundation set is out now. And Innistrad Re-Mastered drops on January 25th. And in Lorkana, Azureite Sea releases November 29th. And that is everything that happened within the past two weeks. Any final comments on any of the stories there, Minnow?
00:52:12
Speaker
ah I've never really played any of these games, so no comment. Alright, fair enough. ah With that, it's time for us to dive into the future and take a look ahead at what will be on your radar from November 18th to 29th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
00:52:35
Speaker
And kicking it off for the next two weeks of video games, no release no major releases on the 18th, but on the 19th, the My Sims Cozy Bundle releases on the Switch, Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2024 releases on the Series X and PC, and its Towers of Agasma releases on the PC and PS5. On the 20th, Genshin Impact makes its way to both Xbox systems, and Stalker 2, Heart of Chernobyl makes its way to Series X and PC.
00:53:01
Speaker
On the 21st, On Your Tail comes to the Switch and PC, and Total War Empire releases on mobile devices. And on the 22nd, Spiritmaster releases on the PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC.
00:53:14
Speaker
jumping ahead to the 26 nine souls comes out for all the consoles and on the 28th snow bros wonderland releases for the PlayStation systems switch and PC and that is it it is we are in the winter season now because of the amount of games or I should I should say the lack of games that are starting uh to come out now um As for big releases, um there's only one that I've been keeping my eyes on ever since they announced it at the Nintendo Direct. ah The My Sims Cozy Bundle. um I am actually very excited for this because it features both My Sims and My Sims Kingdom. And I grew up playing My Sims Kingdom on the Wii and that is the version that we are getting. um So I am genuinely excited for that because I have it.
00:54:04
Speaker
i could It's such like a gem for my childhood that I played a lot of. Yeah, I think that's really cool. um I know like in the winter season, there definitely is like a lack of games that come out. But personally, I'm OK with that because it gives me time to like catch up on games I miss throughout the year. Yeah, no, that is that is the benefit to the winter season, frankly. And it usually lasts up until like the mid to end of February, really, before the spring season really starts to starts to slowly kick in.
00:54:38
Speaker
Exactly. It's like when the rest of the world starts to get out and about and go touch grass, gamers refuse to
Game Backlog & Content Creation Journey
00:54:46
Speaker
do so. We stay inside and we have loads of games to play. Yeah, that that we do. ah Me not so much if I've actually been working through my backlog and I'm down to like my last like 12 games.
00:54:57
Speaker
on my Epic Games catalog, which is entirely made up of the free games that you get every couple of weeks or so. like That's awesome. It was like 50 something at the start of the year, and now it's at 12. What was your favorite game from that catalog? Oh, God, I got a look because there's but they're legit it's been so many. um Severed Steel was a nice surprise, and I actually really enjoyed that one.
00:55:25
Speaker
um It's very similar to another game called distance the same type of like cybernetic vibe and like the way it controlled really really good for a first-person shooter um Let's see. What else are the cat quest games cat quest wanted to loves playing through those ah God what else is on here that I played this year Lumberjack cute little short game and the big con with Antoam, which I played both of those pretty recently Those have been my favorites so far that I've gone through
00:56:03
Speaker
Yeah, that's awesome. It's a pretty like extensive list like as is. I feel like Epic Games, they kind of come through with those free games from time to time. They do. And what I really like is that for the past couple of years during the holiday season, they're like, yeah, it's a free game every day. Yeah. Leading up to Christmas, which is great. um It's a great way to get like some AAA titles and just some really good indie games as well that they put up on there.
00:56:32
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's a great way to expose a lot of gamers to indie games because there's some really good hidden gems out there. Yeah, absolutely. ah Well, with that, it's now time for us to dive into our main focus for this week's episode. Here's what we're talking about this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
00:57:03
Speaker
And starting it off, going back to the conversation of starting content creation and becoming a streamer, and where I've now just learned that we both had a very similar start of streaming from the PlayStation directly.
00:57:22
Speaker
It's an experience. he just Look, it doesn't matter how you get started. It's about the journey. It really is. So how did your journey start? So what drew you to starting to stream? Like, what was the but turning point for you from doing your from being a normal person who doesn't stream to becoming the streamer? Yeah. um So.
00:57:49
Speaker
Even though I wasn't streaming, i was I had a YouTube channel with a friend, so I was still kind of loosely delving into content creation, but like I just didn't really understand the full scope of it all necessarily, or like where where it could take you, I guess. like It was more so like, let's just get together and make a video. And that's really what it was. um But aside from that, like i i just kind of had like I had my first like official career type job. i had left the retail and gone into like a more, quote unquote, career job, I guess, a full time job. And at that job, there was a girl that I worked with and she was a Twitch streamer and
00:58:32
Speaker
at that time, she she was pretty big on the platform and she she kind of told me a little bit about it. and I was like, oh, that sounds kind of cool. And um so I talked to like my gaming friends about it and they they kind of encouraged me to give it a go. And I was like, all right, let's let's figure out how how to do this um because like I kind of mentioned earlier, ah my computer was a MacBook Pro. So like You can't really do crap with MacBooks when it comes to gaming and Twitch and streaming. like At least not at that time. This is around 2016. And I brought a super techie person, so I was just kind of figuring it out to the best of my ability. And my friends weren't really super techie people either that I'm aware of.
00:59:19
Speaker
so Um, I didn't even really have like a chair. I just kind of stood there in front of my PlayStation. I didn't have a camera. Um, and I had, um, I could read chat from my laptop and like I said, my microphone was my controller. So I had to like awkwardly hold it really close to my. my face while I'm trying to play games. um And like there's clips from back in the day, too. You can tell like there's times where like I kind of lowered my controller because you don't hear me as well. So it was a matter of like remembering to keep it like right there on my face. And so I've been gaming very interesting. It's probably why I was so bad at playing until dawn because my controller was like in my face and um kind of left that game with like only one survivor.
01:00:09
Speaker
Um, my bad. Um, but your reaction time's not as good when your controllers like practically eye levels. Um, but yeah, it was a really scuffed set up. I, I did not know what I was doing. Um, and looking back, I kind of wish I kept up with it. I didn't have any sort of consistent stream schedule. I went live, like and just kind of whenever I felt like it, um, maybe like a month apart, maybe I streamed twice a week. Like I just didn't know.
01:00:39
Speaker
I didn't understand Twitch. I didn't understand anything really. um and But at the same time, I was kind of getting like rapid growth in terms of followers on Twitch. And I wish I'd stuck with it because seeing how quickly, I was gaining a following. If you look back, that's around the time like Valkyrie and Pokemon started streaming as well. And a part of me is like, what if? What if I had just stuck with it? Could I have been at the top? But um regardless, though, like I didn't know what I was doing. And then I got a ah second job um at that time in the music industry. So I kind of like my day job and then I had my night job.
01:01:21
Speaker
I'm working for a music video and I just dropped streaming altogether after 2016. So there was kind of like a wall and then I picked it back up and rebranded my and my original name on Twitch was you're killing me smalls because I'm a huge fan of the movie The Sandlot and um I decided to rebrand and wanted something that was more original and not like a catchphrase. And um so I came up with Minitaries and officially like took content creation and streaming more seriously around I think February of 2020. So yeah. So pandemic time.
01:02:02
Speaker
Yeah, basically. ah At that time, I had moved on to another full time job during the day and because of the pandemic, I There was, I was doing marketing for a music venue. Obviously no concerts were happening, so there was nothing to market. So I lost that job, but I was very thankful. I still had my full-time job during the pandemic, got to work from home. um And I had a pretty chill job too. It was very like kind of a passive job in a way. And um so kind of just clocked out and then stepped out of my bedroom into my little gaming setup area and would just go live. and um
01:02:44
Speaker
Yeah, that's what I did during the pandemic. I mean, you couldn't really talk to anybody, so this was the best way to communicate with people. Yeah, that it was. I had a very similar, I guess, starting experience for my streams. I started streaming back in, yeah, like 2016, 2017 with just a but straight from my PlayStation with a microphone ah headset plugged into my controller and my bull ah MacBook laptop to look at chat.
01:03:16
Speaker
um And I used to be known as the Gaming Ace. That was my old Twitch username before it became Tony's Game Lounge, it became this. The Tony's Game Lounge podcast came first with the start of the pandemic. And it's like, okay, let's let's dive into this Twitch thing again, see if we can get it off the the ground. And so from the PlayStation, because that's all I had, sitting on the edge of my couch so I could be as close to the TV as possible,
01:03:44
Speaker
Uh, because I eventually got the PlayStation camera. So it was like, well, this is the only place it can go. So that way my face is in frame and not, it's not like the entire like back end of the couch. And yeah it was, it was a ridiculous setup. Uh, I eventually got my PlayStation camera as well. And I had a pop is on chair that I sat in like the, for those who don't know that it's like that circular chair may not like bamboo.
01:04:11
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah It's actually a really comfy chair to game in. You just like sit there. I mean, is it great for your posture? No, but it was comfy. No, it's comfy. And that's all you care about when you're gaming. Yeah. Exactly. And I was like, and it's either like I like I had to sit right there in front of the camera because my couch was so far away and My controller was connected to my PlayStation to keep it charged throughout the stream and stuff like that. And I don't know, like everything was kind of tethered together. So you had to sit right in front of the TV. Yeah, that's how that's how it be. But that was how it was. And to think that Xbox had a similar thing, but instead of being able to stream to Twitter, you streamed it to Mixer. Yeah. Rest in peace.
01:05:04
Speaker
Oh, God, that throwback to my ninja was a mixer exclusive streamer. My God. Wild times. What a time indeed. So what were the early days of minatoris like for you? What was how did the early days like starting to stream now a bit more consistently? How how did that go for you? Um, it was.
01:05:32
Speaker
Kind of a rough start. um like I didn't know exactly what my niche was going to be yet. Still kind of figuring it out, although by then I had a lot more better concept of what Twitch was and what streaming is. And in 2019, I met a group of friends, and a lot of them were Twitch streamers. And they're the ones who kind of encouraged me to get back into streaming and try it again. They made it look like so much fun. And by then I no longer had a second job, so I had free time like after work. And it was something that I was like, you know what, I'm going to give it a go. Like, let's just see what happens. um However, um there's a lot of stuff that you don't
01:06:27
Speaker
take into consideration when you start off streaming or just content creation in general, like mental health and metrics and things like that. And um a lot of people, not everyone, but a lot of people will, when they first start streaming, see like a big spike because people want to get you to affiliate and then it just drops off hard.
01:06:49
Speaker
ands you're you're learning to just sit there and talk to yourself which is so weird from an outside perspective you're just kind of like i don't know like try to explain it to people who don't understand twitch it's like yeah i'm play i play video game and i talk to people and myself and people watch and it's like so weird like that's like the most like easiest simplified way to explain it's like your parents and stuff like that. um But it was it was kind of a rough start just kind of figuring out like, I still didn't have the best setup. um At that time, I had finally upgraded to a gaming laptop. And I just did everything from that laptop. And it was a lot of to do a lot of tabbing out of everything because you
01:07:39
Speaker
have to make sure like, you know, OBS looks great, but that's minimized and then um trying to play your game from a laptop. And then I had a webcam and it was still very much a scuffed setup, but you just kind of learn to work with what you have. Um, so that kind of presented a lot of challenges until I finally got a monitor that I can like connect my laptop to. And that was kind of game changing. Um, so the setup was still presenting a lot of challenges, the mental health aspect of it. Like I got to affiliate pretty quickly on Twitch and then it just kind of dropped off hard and
01:08:16
Speaker
you kind of start to like compare yourself to people, especially if you know, like you have friends that that also stream and you see how well they're doing. And it's like, why am I not doing good? What can I do better? Why am I so bad at this? It's like a lot of lot of mental health stuff that you just don't realize is going to come with the territory. um So like the first year was kind of like rough, like,
01:08:42
Speaker
feeling like why am I doing this I'm not good enough like why am I not seeing this exponential growth like everybody else around me um but over time like I ah like kind of stopped looking at my viewer count and just had fun and really tried to focus on just having fun. I had like an issue too where like a lot of people would tell me I didn't seem genuine when I was streaming and I think like it took me a long time to like understand where they're coming from because this is coming from people who knew me in real life and they'd watch my streams and in real life like in person I'm very quiet, very reserved, more of like an observative kind of person. I'm not, I'm kind of more of like an introvert
01:09:27
Speaker
But on stream, I'm a lot more outgoing. And I could kind of see where people are coming from with that. um ah It took me a while to understand, but I had created this world that I felt so comfortable in, that I could be myself. And I got to act how I wish I could act in public. I always admire people who are more extroverted.
01:09:49
Speaker
And so people who are used to seeing this introverted person being like extroverted on stream, um I could see where that might be kind of weird and like like that's not the real meadow.
01:10:02
Speaker
by real Really what it was is like I broke out of my shell. I found a place where I could break out of my shell and I could really be myself. And so there was a lot of like challenges to face in the beginning with stuff like that. um Eventually, I just kind of learned to ignore hateful comments and not look out of your your account. And as long as I'm having fun, people will pick up on that. And that's how you start to deliver really good quality streams and start to build that community. So yeah.
01:10:32
Speaker
Yeah, no I I I also hit affiliate like pretty quick like I think it was like within a month or two of streaming again it was like bam like that now thankfully I didn't have like like crazy numbers to begin with and it was like oh Nice like we hit we like the last thing I hit to get it was the follower count and it was it came down to a friend of mine made an alt account and Followed me it got me over. I think the day before I would have had to get either stream dates or viewership like the consistent viewership
01:11:10
Speaker
one of those two goals was about to like pass over and I would have had to hit that again. um And it was like, holy shit, he came through for me. Let's go. um And I'm i'm grateful for him for that because and but I mean, my viewership it's.
01:11:25
Speaker
It's I never looking at the numbers is like the worst thing to do for a streamer. Like obviously I'll maybe look at the industry when I'm about to raid somebody because like that's the and that's the only time I ever look at it because it's like okay how many people am I sending over because that'll maybe sometimes are just who I decide to raid.
01:11:47
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Um, for me, like I hit affiliate probably within like two months of streaming, but I, because I had streamed in 2016, I already had like 200 followers from back then. So like I had the follower count already locked down. It was trying to get that. Was it like average five? Yeah. Average the average viewership of, I think it was average. yeah I don't know. I think about it. Three. I think it's three. I think it might've been higher back in the day. I think it's three now. Okay. I think it was five.
01:12:18
Speaker
i Don't know it's been so long now. I think it was an average of five viewers Maybe which is a lot more difficult to get then one might realize Yeah, and then like your next hurdle is average of 75 like that is so yeah, that's the best to get a partner, but yeah If youre like well like if you look at a statistic, I think it's like 90% of like of like creators who make money on Twitch are affiliates. It's like 90, we are like the 90, 95% is people like us, is like the low, like like well i was medium to low viewership affiliates make up a majority of like the money makers on Twitch.
01:13:05
Speaker
Well, and like to even put it into further perspective, too, um if you're like my Twitch tracker, it fluctuates. But like more or less, I'm around like the top point. Nine percent. Yeah. One percent of Twitch, which is why you'll to think about because if you told that to any other person like, oh, yeah, I'm in the top one percent of Twitch.
01:13:25
Speaker
They'd be like, dang, you must be like big time. No, no, but it' no, it's not. It's not. The big, big streamers are in the top point zero one percent. Yeah. However big zeros you want to put there. And then that one, that's where they are. Yeah. the Margins are ridiculous for Twitch on like that percentage basis. Like, huh, what do you mean? Between like a million dollars and one billion dollars. Like it's insane.
01:13:55
Speaker
it It really is. It absolutely is. um So what were your high? ah So you've gone through a bit of the lows. What were some of your highs, though, um through the early days? Like, what were your highs? My highs would be. Kind of like starting to narrow in more of like what my niche is, I guess, and like kind of finding my footing, um like I kind of created this annual event in October. um It's called Minnow Madness and um it started off really small. um I kind of created this like the first year of consistently streaming and it it just kind of carried over each year because I wanted to see where it would go.
01:14:50
Speaker
So I think that's one of the biggest highlights. It felt like this is something I've created that I've really enjoyed and it's super fun. And like what Minnow Madness entails is like for the entire month of October, I really up everything spooky horror related. And so like, I'll have like my main horror game that I play, which is kind of like more like a triple A title. And then we'll play like a lot of indie horror games. I'll do like horror makeup looks, because I'm also a cosplayer and I love doing makeup. And so it was a cool way to kind of showcase that talent and um and then I would do some sort of like Halloween kind of activity, whether it's like carving pumpkins or making Halloween themed cupcakes or arts and crafts kind of thing. um So there was kind of like a lot that went into it. And then ah two years ago,
01:15:40
Speaker
my roommate came to me with an idea of like, well, why don't you make a horror short film to advertise Minnow Madness? And so that's become a thing. And that's been super fun. In this year's movie, I'm so proud of it. All three movies have been a two man production. um In the first two years, my roommate was recovering from a knee injury. And so There was a lot of challenges to film those those horror short films. And I'm really proud of what we've done. But this this year, I feel like we this is like our best work for our two man production. um So that like that's kind of been really cool to see like Mino Madness grow over the years.
01:16:21
Speaker
and becoming more like higher quality production and things like that. ah So that's been like a big highlight, um but also learning about doing charity streams has been a huge highlight in my streaming career. I've always loved charity work and helping out people. I've been volunteering since I was a little kid for various nonprofit organizations. That's just been a really big focus of my my life. Anything I do in life, I want to find a way to help those in need.
01:16:51
Speaker
And so when I found out that I could kind of merge the two together, I thought that was really cool. And one of my streamer friends, ah she would host Extra Life. And um we did like this really well thought out planned 24 hour charity stream for Extra Life for Texas Children's Hospital. And that was really cool to see. And then from there, I started to kind of like learn more about um like different charity streams and organizations that you can kind of do on Twitch. And like right now I'm for the first time ever um doing a toy drive. And I haven't really seen anyone on Twitch do a toy drive before in my small scope of the world on Twitch. But um it's it's been really successful and it's really cool to kind of have that opportunity to like
01:17:41
Speaker
I've teamed up with the Houston Fire Department to participate in their annual toy toy drive and found a way to make it work with my community through throne and people can go buy toys and it's been really cool. So I think that's a big like highlight too is like all the charity work that I've been able to do over the past few years. so And then more importantly, just my amazing community. That's like the biggest highlight. There's millions of streamers on this platform and I have a community that chooses to tune into my streams as much as they possibly can. And I think that is the coolest thing ever. Little old me over here, like they choose to listen to me yap about games and life and just everything. And we have our own like inside jokes. And it's just it's really cool. And it's weird to think about that like people choose
01:18:38
Speaker
me to watch and to some people I'm like their celebrity which is wild to think about and it's really like heartwarming I think that's the biggest highlight is like I'm just really proud of the community I built up everyone is so incredibly kind and amazing I have the best mods I have the best community and it feels like a family and it's just really cool to like just have that that's That's fucking awesome. I love that. ah Who has been your favorite? What what what has been your favorite cosplay that you've done? ah I guess most recently, my favorite has been Bella Dimitrescu from Resident Evil 8. She's one of the daughters from ah Lady Dimitrescu. That one's been super fun.
01:19:29
Speaker
and um probably my favorite most recently. um Another recent one I've done too is Pennywise, and that's been really fun to do. um I do like a lot of horror cosplays, but also the occasional like anime cosplay too. in And I also did like a lot of diva cosplays. I was really big into Overwatch at one point. oh So yeah, but um over the years, like um one of my favorite ones, I think,
01:19:59
Speaker
in general has been, you know, gossi from an anime called, um, or future diary. Yeah. Yeah. That one's always like that was one of my early days of cosplays and it's still such a fun one to cosplay. People really like to see it at conventions. ah So that's one of my favorites. That's kind of like just dear to my heart, because like it's the first time I felt like a real cosplayer whenever I started doing that character. um And then recently, like I said, is Bella Dimitrescu and Pennywise. So, yeah. Nice. Nice.
01:20:34
Speaker
um What were the most unexpected challenges that you came across in your streaming career so far? and
01:20:46
Speaker
I didn't realize how much I, I'm not a techy person. Like learning how to do a lot of stuff because you'll watch another streamer and you're like, Oh, that's so cool. How did they do that? And then you're like and then you're spending hours scrolling on YouTube, trying to figure out how to do that.
01:21:05
Speaker
exactly like the technical side of it um i was going into this like i like video games and i have a degree in masscom public relations and marketing so i think i could totally it do this and i can i love social media and like that's the easy stuff and then i realized you have to kind of be somewhat technical yeah And um yeah, that's probably been the like the challenge I was not expecting. Yeah, I lucked out in having ah friends who are are like much more technically advanced than I am to get me through the ropes at least of OBS and stuff when I started that's like, okay. And then like as Tai went on, I'm like, okay, I know how to do this shit now. Now I'm teaching some of my friends who are also starting to stream and whatnot. like How do you do that? I'm like, oh, it' it's it's just... You see the big red button?
01:21:56
Speaker
You push you push the green one beside it. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. i'm I'm lucky that my roommate is extremely technical. It comes very natural to him. So he's also my mod. And so I have a command command tech support in my chat and it pings him to let him know that I'm having tech issues because that's a really good idea. Well, I love that. It's amazing. It's super helpful because while you're streaming, when something breaks,
01:22:24
Speaker
sometimes you panic because it's like you have all these eyes on you and something's not working and my brain shuts down and I'm like, I don't know what to do. Like, like not like outside of streaming, I would know how to fix this. I have learned how to fix these tech issues, but there's just something about being live and like an audience just staring at you. Well, it feels like they're staring at you and you're just like, it's like crickets in your head. So I'm glad I have that like little command for my roommate to like get ping to come up here and help me.
01:22:52
Speaker
um On the topic of of ah technical support, have you seen the shorts of VTuber, Monarch, and Sayu, where it's the Sayu tech support line?
YouTube Shorts & Streaming Challenges
01:23:05
Speaker
Have you ever seen those? oh you should I don't think so. If you ever get the time, just look up Monarch, Sayu, spelled C-Y-Y-U.
01:23:14
Speaker
uh, tech support. Just look that up. It is a fantastic, um, short where just she's just telling a story about how she needed tech support. And, uh, the other guy was, uh, on a plane getting ready to take off and it was all great. It's just a fun, it's a fun YouTube short. And it's like, but this is very much the tech support YouTube short of all time.
01:23:39
Speaker
I have to check that out. I always joke about like if I were to do like a tech support role as a career, I would be the worst at it because I'd receive a phone call of someone complaining that something's not working. And my response would be, did you go off and on again? Did you YouTube it? Did you turn it off and on again? Well, if you haven't tried those three, go try those. And I would probably just hang up.
01:24:03
Speaker
How to put out fire on computer keyboard. Ouch. Help. Exactly. Like, just YouTube it. Just YouTube it. Forehead. Womow. God. Exactly. No, I'd be terrible at tech sport. I would be so pissed because I'm like, you probably are too lazy to just Google or YouTube it.
01:24:27
Speaker
Yeah. And then the next boss, I can't because the computer's frozen! Right? And I was like, well, you got a phone, don't you? There it is. There's the kicker. Now we've got you. You're lazy. Exactly.
01:24:44
Speaker
Bam, bada-bing, bada-boom. Okay, so, questions, since you are a woman in the a woman in the streaming industry, how has that side of things, because we do know that there is like a big, like there's a lot more hate comments that you can get, sexist comments that you can get, how has that side been? like Have you experienced that? What has your experience been like with that side of things? My experience has been relatively open pay for the most part and I'm thankful about that um because I have friends that get all sorts of comments a lot more frequently than I do. um I think part of streaming is learning your boundaries and implementing them and it can be really hard to do sometimes.
01:25:38
Speaker
um especially if it's people you know. um But just in general, the the internet bros, like they're they're out to push your boundaries and you have to have them in place and you have to make sure that your mods are aware of your boundaries too.
01:25:55
Speaker
um And I have had situations where people have sexualized me on stream and it makes me feel really awkward and I kind of shut down because I'm not here to provide that kind of entertainment. And there are creators who do provide that kind of entertainment. So go to those platforms. But like that's that's not what I'm here to do. I'm here to just play games, have a good time and hang out with people. And and I naturally don't handle compliments very well so um someone could be kind of like sincere about it but it's still kind of depending on certain words they use it still makes me ah awkward so like i've had to just set the tone of like please do not
01:26:38
Speaker
Call me sexy. Do not call me XYZ or whatever. like That feels weird to me on stream. I do not know you. You like just don't do that. um So I've had to learn how to really set boundaries like in my Discord and on Twitch and things like that and be stern about it because if you are hesitant about setting those boundaries, then then you're still setting yourself up for, I don't want to say failure, but like being a disaster. Yeah, disaster be more vulnerable. And like those people will see right through those cracks and still try to poke at it. So like if you just ignore them, ban them, block them, or are very stern with them, like, Hey, I do not approve of this. Um, hopefully, like there's been a couple times where
01:27:28
Speaker
a guy would come into my stream and they would say something very misogynistic or sexist, you know, whatever. And I would be like, I don't tolerate that kind of behavior. So either you can leave or you can change your attitude and join the community like everybody else. And then they would be like, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it. I was just being dumb. I do like think you're really nice and I wanna be here. And then like they'll drop a follow and then like.
01:28:03
Speaker
It's crazy how like you just don't know how they're going to react. Um, which I sometimes that like, I find that funny. Like when you, when they realize they can't get to you, so then they completely do a 180. They're like, Oh no, I love you. You're amazing. You're so kind. Like I didn't mean that. Um, but yeah, though there's definitely a lot of, um, like sexism that goes on in streaming. And I, I like to see that gaming is for girls.
01:28:31
Speaker
And it's really cool to see more and more female streamers like becoming bigger and being successful and setting like a really cool example for younger girls who are interested in content creation. um But then there's also like the issue too of Twitch where like there's a lot of sexual content on Twitch on the main page. And um I kind of like,
01:28:59
Speaker
I don't want to say like, don't get that bag for those girls. um But at the same time, I feel like because it's on the front page, if someone's parent goes to Twitch, and that's what they see on the front page, it kind of makes female streamers in general look kind of bad because we're not all here to be sexy on camera.
01:29:21
Speaker
um So It's kind of like a double-edged sword of like, I want to support people who are more into like that sexy kind of content, spicy content and be like, go get that bag. um But at the same time, I feel like there's better platforms to do that on. um So it's kind of interesting waters to tread through sometimes um because girls can also ruin it for girls and it's not just guys. so um
01:29:52
Speaker
So, yeah, I guess it's kind of my take, but my overall experience has been relatively pretty mild. So I'm thankful for that. Yeah, that's that's that it's good that you haven't had to deal with a whole lot of that because I've heard stories from other female friends of mine. I'm like, Jesus Christ, what the fuck?
01:30:13
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, there's a few wild stories and encounters for sure that I've had, but it's very few and far between, so I am thankful for that. um Is there anything you would change ah from how you started to now? Is there anything that you would have changed?
01:30:35
Speaker
I guess. Try to think here. Loaded question. It is like it's ah I mean. There's just a lot to learn throughout streaming and content creation. um I guess one thing I would change is um maybe believing in myself more like starting out, I just had really low self-esteem and low like confidence and felt like I like was really uneasy if this is like a space for me um to be in and I wish I just believed in myself a little bit more in the early days. So if um me now could approach myself from four years ago, I would tell myself that like, it's going to be okay. You've got this. You're good at what you do. Do not put yourself down. Do not compare. Excuse me. Do not compare yourself to other people and um just believe in yourself. Like,
01:31:34
Speaker
And so if I go back in time and change a little something, probably that. But at the end of the day, it's all part of the journey. And it's like,
Future Plans & Networking Tips
01:31:45
Speaker
I don't know, like the foundation of where I am today. There is a lot of self growth with it.
01:31:52
Speaker
So, yeah, but I don't know if that really answered the question. No, that was that was actually that was actually and that was of all the questions I have ever asked on this podcast. That is probably one of the best answers I've heard on this podcast.
01:32:07
Speaker
Thank you. That was a fantastic answer. Holy shit. um Last question I have here. What what what what big plans do you have that you can share at the moment for the future of the Minatori's brand? Yeah. um I have a couple of things that I can share.
01:32:28
Speaker
ah so I've always been known as a variety streamer with an emphasis on horror games and Final Fantasy 14, but over the past several months to a year, I've been really kind of reflecting on where I want to go with streaming. And I see a lot of my friends and they kind of are known for like their main game. And that doesn't mean they don't play other games, but they have like their main game. I can tell you like this person mostly plays
01:33:02
Speaker
this game and this person plays mostly that game. And for me, I just feel so all over the place. And so um kind of been doing like a little experiment. So from October of last year to now, I've been playing a lot of Phasmophobia and Dead by Daylight to kind of see which game I enjoy more. And although the ma the the metrics show that fastophobia does better for me, I have a lot more fun playing Dead by Daylight. And so that's where I know the quality of the content is going to shine through. So starting in January, I'm kind of shifting my focus a little bit.
01:33:40
Speaker
and narrowing down more of like what ah what I'll be streaming. ah So I'm going to be a DVD and Rust streamer. I really love playing Rust and I want to play more of it and I always find it hard to fit into my schedule with what I'm currently doing because I just as a variety streamer and my ADHD, I feel all over the place. I want to do all the things all at once. And so I think by just kind of taking a step back and focusing on two games that will really help. And then I will still sprinkle in um like some story based games because I still want to play like Resident Evil and I want to get into Metal Gear Solid and stuff like that. So like I'll still sprinkle in some story based games. But um the main focus now is going to be
01:34:25
Speaker
Dead by Daylight and Rust, and I found some really fun ways to make it super interactive for my community, even if you don't play those games. um And then as far as like Final Fantasy XIV goes, I will be streaming in my Discord and doing like a local recording to put up on on YouTube. So like the people in my community who are into Final Fantasy XIV, they still have an opportunity to see my reaction, but it's gonna become more like on an intimate level. um And I just talked about this to my community yesterday and they all gave positive feedback about the the changes to come. So there's going to be a shift in focus starting in January. um And then the other thing is um I do plan to do another 24 hour extra life charity stream. I'm looking to have it in February, but I haven't locked in a date just yet. um But I'm really excited about that. So that will be coming in the early
01:35:23
Speaker
months of next year. And, um, my community always begs for 24 hour streams. So don't worry. I got you. We have a 24 hour stream coming, um, very soon. So yeah. Nice. Have you ever considered doing a subathon?
01:35:40
Speaker
Yes, but I feel I feel some like dirty begging for money. That's no shade to the streamers who do subathons. I really commend streamers who do subathons. Um, for my birthday this past year, I did like a, what I called subs giving and it made me feel better about like a subathon. And so like what I did was, um, for each stream, if I met my sub goal of five subs,
01:36:10
Speaker
then those who subscribed would be entered into a giveaway. And so it was kind of like a give and a take. So like, thank you for supporting me, but in return, let me give you something potentially. um And that made me feel a little bit better. So I called it subsgiving.
01:36:26
Speaker
um But then I recently talked to a streamer friend of mine who gave me some good insight of kind of overcoming that feeling of like being an e beggar basically, um, for a subathon and was like, just set like small goals and, um, just kind of space them out and do like one or two a year at, at most. Um, cause like, if you're doing it all the time, then it does kind of start coming across as greedy. So.
01:36:54
Speaker
I was like, that's some good insight. So like I've considered it, but I'm nervous that no one's going to subscribe. and It's kind of flop. And I think that's a really big hurdle to get over to is like that mental block of like, no one's going to participate. So then you just look stupid. I feel i feel that I definitely feel that. um Is there anything else you want to add before we move on to our second topic of the day? Now, I think we covered quite a bit. All right. Well, and let's dive into that second topic.
01:37:36

Speaker
And our second topic of the day, I gave it a fun little title of networking and getting free stuff. Because that is a little bit of what we're doing at the end of the day, of working with game talking with game developers and getting codes to games and playing them and checking them out. So you've done this before, so what is that whole experience like for you, Minnow?
01:38:37
Speaker
um It's really fun getting to put yourself out there, and you may not necessarily get a game code for that specific game, but if you can get on that developer's radar, then ah maybe they'll reach out to you for a different game, because they only get so many codes that they can give out. so um But I find a lot of them through Twitter, actually.
01:38:59
Speaker
um i don't really know how it started, but one day I just kind of saw a developer ah tweet about how they have some Steam keys to give out ah for content creators and streamers and um and to just kind of like reply to the message if you're interested in their game. And um at some point, one of them just, I don't even remember the first one, but at some point somebody was like, okay, here's the Steam key. And it's really cool because you kind of feel like, all right, like I'm ah i'm a streamer.
01:39:31
Speaker
cool I just got a free game and now I'm like you're basically making a commitment to that developer that like I am going to play your game I'm going to promote your game I will give honest feedback about your game and I will share it with my community and even if you're just streaming to like one or two people do not feel discouraged to reach out. ah Game developers love working with smaller creators. Smaller creators tend to have a very more passionate community than some of the bigger creators do. And they're more likely to be honest as well.
01:40:05
Speaker
Exactly, exactly. And so um a lot of these games are from indie developers, so definitely just kind of keep an eye out for some indie developers. Off the top of my head, one of my favorite indie developers is Amika, E-M-I-K-A, Amika Games. What have they done? Because that sounds familiar.
01:40:28
Speaker
They specialize in indie horror games and they have some of the most scariest games I've ever played. um I actually just bought three of their games on the Halloween Steam sale. I got like three games for like two bucks. Really cool. Really cool. It was totally a steal. um And it's one of ah one of the games they develop is one of my all time favorite indie horror games called Summer of 58.
01:40:51
Speaker
It is so terrifying, but it's so good. I highly recommend it. um But yeah, um a lot of just, I guess, um a lot of like my experience is kind of just talking to developers on Twitter. That's the only place I see developers giving away Steam keys.
01:41:14
Speaker
to my knowledge. But there's another way to go about it too. is If you um can't get a hold of a game developer through Twitter, um there is a website called keymaer ah k e y m a i l e r Key Mailer. um And they have loads of games of all genres, sometimes AAA titles, sometimes mostly like smaller games, but sometimes you'll see like big games. like They had a Silent Hill 2 remake on there at one point. um I was not lucky enough to to get that one. I was, however, um lucky enough to get... Oh, what is it?
01:41:57
Speaker
Now I can't remember the game right now. My brain's blanking. ah But you can you can get like a lot of games um from Keymailer, and that's how I get a lot of my Steam keys. It's very easy. You just create an account. You find a game that you're interested in, and you click um like Apply. And then you provide feedback of like if you're on Twitter, YouTube. And then you tell them like kind of percentage-wise, how likely are you to create content?
01:42:23
Speaker
um for that game. And um I always put very likely because I feel like that's going to increase your chances of getting the steam key. Yeah, no, absolutely. I feel like if you get something, if you get it for free, it's like you might as well do them the service of playing the game on your stream. Like, exactly. I feel like like I'm at least obligated to do that at least. Like how much caught I'll guarantee one stream at least, depending on like how I feel with the game after playing it. That's how I would go about it at least.
01:42:52
Speaker
Yeah, same. Like bare minimum, I will stream your game and then they'll tell you like if you get um if the game developer accepts your request for a steam key, um you can choose either steam key console key or epic games key. Oh, that's that's nice. I like that. think Yeah, the kind of accessibility. Exactly. I mean, obviously that's dependent on where they have published their game. You know, um most of us. I done steve i'd love to play your steam exclusive game on my PlayStation.
01:43:21
Speaker
Exactly. so yeah avi But they tell you like what platforms it's available on, and then let's say the developer does approve of your request. then they will tell you, like please use this hashtag, and then you have to do a hashtag keymailer. um So there are some requirements to it, ah but it's like really simple requirements. um And so basically, they're just kind of asking, OK, if you're going to stream this game, then just tweet or post on Instagram or wherever ah TikTok, like hey, I'm playing this game, hashtag game name, hashtag keymailer. Thank you so much for um allowing me to play your game.
01:43:53
Speaker
something you know something super simple like that um and then most recently so from key mailer i got a steam key for a game it's a visual novel horror game called it i always mispronounce it in in smooth i think it's uh If I'm not mistaken, I think it's a Lovecraftian word, but correct me if I'm wrong for anyone who's watching this. um But it's called Nsmooth22. It's a visual novel, and I'm really excited to play that, so I'll be playing that very soon. and um Outside of Keymailer, I saw Sabre Entertainment ah post about how they were giving away Steam keys for A Quiet Place, The Road Ahead.
01:44:33
Speaker
And they reached out to me. I was lucky enough to get a steam key. And I was so excited. I freaking loved that game. So it's really rewarding um being able to get free games. Nice. I'm going to take advantage of that right after this podcast, though. please Yeah, please do. Go do it. I have gone how many years? i will look real Realistically, like three years since I got my gaming PC.
01:45:01
Speaker
but So realistically, three years of the forum and streaming of to take advantage of this. So I should I should take advantage of that because I need more content. All all I do is play RPGs and visual novels. That's that seems to be but I mean, that is my niche that I that I found is those yeah two specific things. I'm like, huh, they think I get here, but OK, people like hearing me do funny voices for their British detective. OK, excellent.
01:45:30
Speaker
Yeah, it's been a great way to figure out where to find these game developers. Look at the catalog of games that you play. What genre of games do you like to play? And then Steam will recommend, oh, you played this game. You might like this game. And so look to see what developers are creating these games, whether it is AAA or indie. Sometimes the bigger titles do give away Steam keys, even to small streamers. I cannot stress that enough.
01:45:59
Speaker
Do not let your size of your community dictate you getting free stuff, whether it's confidence or like free games. Exactly. Be confident and um and be proud of what you are currently doing. Own it. You like you worked hard and you were still working hard. So do not let that dictate you. Another good resource, too. Oh, I guess to really quickly continue on that is ah find like figure out the game developers make those games, find their Twitter pages if you have a Twitter and um or blue sky because they they might be on blue sky as well yeah a lot of people are going to blue sky i'm also on blue sky now too um trying to figure out that platform the algorithm i don't know it's weird for me but that's a whole other um situation and topic but um
01:46:45
Speaker
But yeah, like just go to like Blue Sky and Twitter and find those game devs and um just keep an eye out for whenever they're coming out with new games. And you can even reach out to them and say, hey, um my name is blah, blah, blah. um I create content on Twitch and on YouTube and TikTok. Here's like a little rundown of like what I'm about. I really enjoy playing this game from you, or I really like playing this genre of games. If you um have an opportunity in the future to ah give out steam keys, I would love to be considered and create content for your game and share that with my audience. Boom. Done. And maybe, maybe they'll remember you. Maybe, maybe, maybe that one person in their social media team that handles those DMS will be like, Oh, I'll keep that in mind. And they'll hand it off to the e steam key person who, who deals with all the keys. Exactly. And then my other point is going to say is someone who's a really good resource and content creation in general,
01:47:44
Speaker
but also gives really good insight on how to get sponsorships, brand deals, um networking, ah Steam keys, all of that is a creator named Kat Liente. Kat with a K, so K-A-T, Kat Liente. Absolutely phenomenal creator. You can find her on TikTok and Twitter. She's very active on those two platforms um and gives Phenomenal advice also on twitch to go watch her twitch um But a super super amazing creator with really good insight in transparency of the life of a streamer how to network um how much money she makes I think transparency on that is
01:48:21
Speaker
really good because it makes it makes things like more realistic. Like, wow, the grand scheme of things. We are all small creators, but that doesn't mean you can't make money. So like she goes into depth of like how to do that. And like she just has so many good resources and a lot of free resources, too, like documents that she's put together. So nice. Yeah.
01:48:44
Speaker
Nice. ah Who are your who? OK, who is your dream like brand studio that you would love to work with? Um.
01:48:56
Speaker
I am a big Blomhouse fan. I love their movies. And they recently have ah this year delved into the world of gaming. I would freaking love to work with them. um I had the honor of going to a convention called CinemaCon in Vegas with ah one of my jobs.
01:49:21
Speaker
And Jason Blum was right there in front of me on the stage, and I was like fangirling so hard. um I'm just a really big fan of Blumhouse. I'm really excited that they're delving into video games. And so I would freaking love to work with them. um But then, like, honestly, if any, like, indie game de viv, game de viv, what kind of work does that mean? Game de viv? De viv?
01:49:51
Speaker
If any indie game developers are looking for like voice actors or just someone to stream your game, please consider me. I would like to work with you because I love supporting indie companies just as much as I would love to work with Blumhouse Games.
01:50:09
Speaker
ah That's great. I'm honestly I'm actually kind of excited for what Blumhouse is gonna put out on the game side with the stuff that they showed um I think it was like what was it four or five games that they initially showed They announced it some of those look I'm like damn. I'm not a horror guy, but these look really good I hope that horror. I really hope that the horror community eats those up and i hope so too ah like It's very exciting to see that, and it's it's also like a great way for, like, Hollywood, in quotation marks, like, Hollywood as an essence, is and the video world of video games to like come together and like even further as well.
01:50:49
Speaker
And I think the best way for Hollywood to break into the gaming world the right way and a good way is through horror. um Like I feel like it's hard to it's hard to mess up horror.
01:51:04
Speaker
Yeah, same. And I feel like you're good someone out there is going to love your game. I mean, you have to really mess up. Like it has to be like unethical level of mess up for people to not like your game. Yeah. um Like basically. And I've seen that quite a bit throughout the past couple of years in the indie horror realm. There's a lot of ah there not a lot, but like a handful of game developers that are not good people promoting white supremacy, anti-LBGT, Q, all sorts of things, ah hatred towards Native Americans. like I've seen a lot in the past couple of years, and it's amazing how well the horror community comes together to like shut that down. and I think it's amazing. um So the horror community is definitely a very welcoming space for everybody, except those assholes.
01:51:57
Speaker
Yeah, we don't like those. We don't like them. So, yeah. um But yeah, anyways.
01:52:08
Speaker
ah oh that but Yeah, that being said, I feel like if Hollywood to get into gaming, definitely horror is the right genre and route to get into. Yeah, no, absolutely. And then more movie tie in games, but like so on the on the original sense, like the Cars movie video game, the first one where it took place after the events of the movie and is a fantastic game and not like.
01:52:36
Speaker
fighting The fighting Nemo game, I didn't like that one. but That was a fighting Nemo game. Yeah, there is. I have it on the GameCube. I'm looking at it right now. Just sit it on my shelf beside me. I see you, Nemo. What's that one game that like everyone gets tripped up over old, old game? Is it the Lion King? Tripped up over in like it's hard. Like like it's hard.
01:53:01
Speaker
It might have been the line. I don't know like the Lion King. I think that I'm pretty sure that's the game that everyone like gets really upset over because it's so hard. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, it is like it is. Yeah. Yeah.
01:53:15
Speaker
Yeah, that that was good old. What was that? The s I think I think that oh that era. Oh, God, I wasn't even wasn't even. A thought. Oh, it's OK. Maybe I was like barely alive in this world, like months old.
01:53:40
Speaker
Yeah. past guy i Somewhere around there. Hold on. Let me just look up ah the year of the SNES before I let's see here. 1990. OK, yeah. I come three years later.
01:54:00
Speaker
And I think that's what was that five five years later for me. Yeah, so. Yeah, we were there for the initial release. We we we were there in spirit. Exactly. In spirit.
01:54:17
Speaker
ah yeah ah Is there anything else you want to add on this second topic, Minnow? I
Meme Rehab & Key Gaming Events
01:54:24
Speaker
guess just like believe in yourself again. I really want to just stress that a lot. Networking is fun. I know it can be scary networking, but getting to know streamers in your realm can be a really good helpful insight to getting to know um other streamers and game developers and voice actors and things like that cause players whatever whatever your niche is um there's definitely a group of people out there uh so don't be shy go say hi to those people and um most of the time they are very nice and very kind so just find find your people who play the similar games to you and from there you can also learn a lot of um game developers out there that are giving out steam keys or
01:55:13
Speaker
ah streamers that want to network and collaborate with you. And that can really help grow your community too. And just a simple hi. Go talk in their chat. um really like get to know Don't self-promote in their chat, but get to know them and their community. And then maybe off to the side, once you've kind of built that rapport, you can um collaborate with them and set something up, which is always really fun too. um For me, and networking has always come very natural to me. So if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I would love to answer those questions. But um I, over the years, have networked and worked really hard. And that's how I landed, not one, but two stream teams that I am on this year. That's how I have opportunities to play games like A Quiet Place, The Road Ahead.
01:55:59
Speaker
um and other indie like horror games and stuff and how I've really worked towards just growing my community. A lot of it is through networking of people in my own little community where it is like horror, horror in Final Fantasy 14. So um find find your path, find what you love and what you're passionate about and narrow it down and then reach out to people who are into the same thing and that will definitely help grow and just be confident in what you do.
01:56:25
Speaker
Be brave, raid that random stranger on the internet that you think is pretty cool. You never know we're elite. Exactly. Cause that's 99% of the guests I bring on the podcast. I mean, I was just talking about this yesterday on stream. Um, I forgot how the conversation got brought up, but, um, I was telling people, um, Oh, I was getting a raid suggestion from someone and I was like, let's go meet somebody new today. Cause we're going to raid out. And, um, I was like, let's go meet somebody new. And, um, then it kind of deviated towards like, well, that's how I found one of my really good friends is someone here in chat.
01:57:05
Speaker
Suggested I rated out to them and so we did and then me and that streamer really connected and we became really good friends And then she was hyping up her best friend. And so I was like, oh, I'm curious about this streamer So I went to go check out that streamer and she was so freakin cool. And she's like, okay, tonight we're going to rain out to this other streamers. So in a span of like a week, I found really like three really amazing content creators that are so amazing. And I just love hyping them up. Um, they're Cooper's charms, Shanna Lee and Hydra, and they're amazing. And because of that one quick interaction in the span of like a week, um, that's how I am now on my stream team nightmare network.
01:57:44
Speaker
with Shannon Cooper. So you never know where things can lead. You never know. yeah you You're never going to know. And that that's that that's that's like one of the cool things like that I found with streaming. It's like you just never know what surprises are going to happen next. Exactly. Awesome. All right. Well, it's time to start closing things out and head on into the bonus level.
01:58:12
Speaker
Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick off the bonus level today, it's this week in gaming history. 01:59:21
Speaker
Wow. ah The price for the GameCube back then, 200 US dollars, which is crazy. And I'm actually speaking of the GameCube tomorrow, day of recording tomorrow. So this past Saturday for you listeners out there, I'm heading to another GameCube or retro game sale. So hoping to pick up more games for the collection. Horror Monsters & Game Comparisons
02:06:40
Speaker
old, Minnow? I feel very old. It's crazy. like Like to me, these games just came out not that long ago. It really does feel that way. Like, oh my God, some of these it's like.
02:06:55
Speaker
It kind of punches you in the gut. You just realize just how old you are. Yeah. Yeah. Moving on to top five, I figured this would be a great top five for you. A very a horror enthusiast is your your top five horror monsters in video games. OK. Uh.
02:07:18
Speaker
Trying to think back to like all the games that I played. um I think that like Well, like, by monsters, like, I guess can they also be like people, creatures, villains? yeah Okay, okay, okay, yeah. um I think the absolute, like, scariest, the one that just really drove the nail into the coffin and had terrified the ever-living crap out of me.
02:07:43
Speaker
I don't know their name, but it's an Outlast 2. There's like, I don't know how to describe it. It's like a like a creepy lady, kind of looks like she's carrying like some kind of like cross or axe or like something on her back and like she just looks really sadistic and creepy.
02:08:00
Speaker
and she chases you through like this village. And if you played out last two, you'll probably know who I'm talking about. I don't know her name, but oh my God, so freaking scary. I've never had a character had me scream bloody murder like that. Like, yeah. So I don't know what it was, but that just freaked me out. um So that's probably like my top, like number one. Okay. Some other stand out.
02:08:28
Speaker
oh The the baby in Resident Evil eight, the baby creature that chases you was really creepy. Let's see what else. Oh, oh um the teacher that like twist her neck all weird and creepy and little nightmares. Terrifying. Did not like that. That was scary.
02:09:00
Speaker
Emily and Emily wants to play. Oh, yeah, that one freaks me out. Oh, that freaks me out. I would have freak like i never played the game. I've watched. I think it was Achievement Hunter back in the day. Play the VR version of that one. And I'm like, yeah, no, yeah, no. Yeah, I could never do horror games and VR. Mm hmm. Kudos to those who can. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that would send me to an early grave. I can't do that. Kudos to those who who play horror games and VR.
02:09:29
Speaker
um I don't know how many lists I think that was four. Yeah. Yeah. Um, let's say you try to think like, who else kind of stands out? Um, that really just terrifies me. Um, I'm trying to like scroll through like my steam list to think of games. Um,
02:09:53
Speaker
ah game Oh, Oh, the, the landlord. and welcome to Calhoun. That's probably a number two.
02:10:05
Speaker
A number two scary, like I didn't really rank the others, but because they're all kind of like they're just equally scary. But yeah, number one is the the creepy lady in Outlast 2 that chases you through the village. And then number two is the landlord lady in an indie horror game called Welcome to Calhoun. That was terrifying. OK, that's a that's a solid list. That's a solid list of scary things.
02:10:31
Speaker
But I know not to look at now because I'm i'm a very scared, I'm a very scared person. ah um Then definitely don't play Welcome to Kowloon. It is one hour of pure horror. That game is one of the scariest games I have ever played. I'll recommend that to my boy Mello because he plays horror here and there. So I'll recommend that to him. Yeah, I know it.
02:10:53
Speaker
ah Torture him. Torture him. a Oh, hell yeah. I need something to torture him with. Hell yeah. ah Moving on to Head to Head, where we pit two games against each other for our guests to decide which one wins based on their personal preferences. And it kind of worked out since ah this is going to be your bread and butter coming up, ah Dead by Daylight versus Phasmophobia. That doesn't mean I don't hate Phasmo. I do like a lot of aspects of Phasmo.
02:11:22
Speaker
Yeah. And so a question I do have for you about Dead by Daylight, actually, that I wanted to ask, um how do you it's been dubbed with a game with ah ah with a a very toxic community. How do you find the community? Do you agree with those statements or?
02:11:45
Speaker
Yes, so hard. Yes. Oh, the fast phobia community definitely wins on this head to head. They are so wholesome, so kind and so welcoming. Drama free, toxic free. I'm sure there's like some bad apples there, but they're not on my radar. um Dead by Daylight.
02:12:02
Speaker
ah ah very, very toxic. I have come across horrendous people in DVD. The community on Twitter, drama after drama, although I just grabbed my popcorn and I listened for the tea, but it ah it's... Yeah, this head to head DVD loses when it comes to toxic community. and
Kingdom Hearts 4 Speculations
02:12:25
Speaker
fair You know what? Fair enough. but fair Fair enough. um Moving on to Tony's game poll. um This is our seasonal poll, which
02:12:36
Speaker
ah You're gonna be you're actually gonna be the last vote in this poll before we reveal the votes in the in the season finale minnow so if Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a new Disney slash Pixar world What world would you add now if you have no knowledge of Kingdom Hearts and what they've added before? Do not worry I have played all the games and I know what has been and added and what has it so I can clarify and let you know what is is if that if it's a valid option or not and Okay. Um, yeah, I played kingdom hearts to start to finish twice. Um, it's it's it is the best entry. and It's so good. yeah Really fond memories. Like, uh, I would spend the night at my friend's house and we would stay up till the wee hours of the night playing that game. Um,
02:13:23
Speaker
But I haven't played the other Kingdom Hearts games outside of the rhythm game that came out. Oh, Melody of Memory. Yeah, that's a really fun game. I like it. Honestly, it is a really fun game. It's Platinum Trophy has like maybe one grindy achievement in it. But overall, it's a fantastic game. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. um It's a really chill game to just kind of like go. I don't know. It's good like me time kind of offline game. um But back to the question.
02:13:50
Speaker
Oh, I have to really jog my memory. i I'm pretty sure this is already there. Pirates of the Caribbean is also, that's the kingdom part. Yeah, yeah I was like, you know. Pirates of the Caribbean was in two and also had a follow up in three. Yeah, that's right. I was like, hold on. I was like, this sounds so familiar. I'm pretty sure it's in two. It's been years since I played the second one. um
02:14:17
Speaker
Do I feel like if I say any of the Disney classics, they're just going to begin their beauty and the beast. Yeah, that was in two as well. OK, everything. I think two covered a lot of my favorites. And so that I think I'm going to be struggling with this. Let me think. Two had Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lion King. Oh, Nightmare Before Christmas.
02:14:42
Speaker
Um, Hercules. Yeah, I was gonna say Hercules isn't Steamboat willy but Willie. frid Yeah, yeah it's ah it's essentially like a bunch of the old black and white cartoons of Disney, but yeah primarily whenever we see that we always like the one that comes to mind is Steamboat Willie. Yeah, now public domain.
02:15:04
Speaker
Oh boy, it's like seeing those movies coming out, the they're making a Mickey Mouse horror. They are, yeah. I haven't seen the Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey yet, but I hear it's so, yeah, I hear it's so bad, but I'm kind of here for it and I still, oh, I want to watch it, Loki. um The way I so badly want Anastasia to be Disney, Pixar, and it's not pisses me off, is Lilo and Stitch.
02:15:32
Speaker
It was that wasn't birth by sleep. Dang it. Only the space portion, though, like the big spaceship that the Federation has. That was the world that they gave it. But it is totally in Kingdom Hearts. What about this Toy Story Disney picture? Yeah, it is. And Toy Story was added in Kingdom Hearts three.
02:15:55
Speaker
Dang it. I don't keep up with like modern Disney. So hold on. OK, I'm Googling here. Absolutely. Absolutely. Go for the Google. I highly encourage it. I sit here like because I'm only going to have like the old school stuff I grew up on, I feel like. Oh, but I forgot about some of these older movies. Oh, is Jungle Book. Jungle? Wait, is Jungle Book in there?
02:16:23
Speaker
I don't think they did Jungle Book. I don't. Yeah, no, they did Tarzan. They never did Jungle Book. Oh, they got to do Jungle Book. That would be so fun. that That would be an interesting one. It would be a nice return to like the jungle aspect levels, because we only ever saw it with the Tarzan one in the first game. We never really had a true jungle level after that. It's a bare necessity. God damn it.
02:16:50
Speaker
Oh, it writes itself to but. um ah Yeah, I'll say jungle book that that needs to be in in the Kingdom Hearts world. All right. Well, we will be revealing the full poll
Gaming Deals & Recommendations
02:17:06
Speaker
ah answers and percentages in the season finale. So be sure to tune into that episode that which will come out not in two weeks. Like normally it'll come out just after the game awards where we'll be recapping all of that stuff.
02:17:20
Speaker
ah Your deals of the week, starting with your free games on Epic, the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Snakebird Complete are free until November 21st. I played Snakebird Complete, I finished it, I can say it's a solid puzzle game.
02:17:35
Speaker
ah Not the best I've played, but you know what, it's it does what it needs to do. And Beholder will be free from November 21st to 28th. On Steam, your Team 17 fall saving sale is on until the 27th, as well as the Koi Tecmo autumn sale. Hooded Horse November sale is on until the 23rd of November, and Capcom's Singles Day sale is on until the 21st. And on PlayStation, they're holding their November deals sale as well, ah which goes until November 22nd.
02:18:06
Speaker
Your achievement of the week is in planet coaster two against the odds, which is to build a five star park in sandbox mode. And your game of the week is going to my Sims cozy bundle. If you've never played my Sims kingdom, go play that one in the collection because it is actually a fun time. From what I remember about in my childhood, you get to build stuff. There's Sims that speaks Simlish and it's a good time.
02:18:34
Speaker
And our guest game recommendation, Minnow, if there is a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience at this very moment, what game would it be? Final Fantasy XIV claimed MMORPG. No, but seriously, just give it a shot. Again, I have never played an MMO. I've never played a Final Fantasy game um prior to XIV. I played mostly horror games and shooters, and it was so vastly different from what I normally would play, and I had no intentions of ever playing a Final Fantasy game.
02:19:09
Speaker
But I gave it a shot and I loved it. And it like I said in the beginning of this podcast, um it is my number one favorite game. So coming from someone who would normally never pick up this game, I know and MMOs can be daunting.
02:19:25
Speaker
um What I like about Final Fantasy 14 is you can just focus on the story. You don't have to get into PvP. You don't really have to get into crafting. um You don't have to do a lot of the side stuff that they offer. If you don't want to, you can just focus on the story. Or if you're into just raiding, you can just do the raids. like They offer a lot of different play styles and aspects to what you are as a gamer and what you're wanting.
02:19:49
Speaker
And the community is so welcoming, so wholesome and very, very kind. And the story will just literally change your life. And I don't know how else to explain it. You just just get through A Realm Reborn, the first expansion. It's it's tough, but it's a slog. It is. But it's setting up the foundation for the entire story um and.
02:20:10
Speaker
when you get to beating Endwalker and the post content, you will, it relates back to the first expansion and you slowly kind of build a soft spot for A Realm Reborn. So just go at your own pace, enjoy it. It's, it is subscription based. So, I mean, you can play for free up to level 70. You can play for free all the way, all the way up to the end of Stormblood, baby. Yeah. However, pass that it is subscription based, but you know, you can always just turn off your subscription and come back to it.
02:20:39
Speaker
um So you can kind of play at your own pace. And I just really, really highly recommend it to all gamers. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. And also for those Magic of the Gathering fans, because there are Final Fantasy cards releasing next year ah and you're wondering who the fuck is this Emmet Salk guy and why is he sitting on a clock tower in his card, which looks fantastic, by the way. I am going to.
02:21:04
Speaker
I will buy that card. like yeah like that is i Even though I rarely play magic anymore, I will build an entire commander deck around my boy Emmett Selk. He's arguably one of the most intriguing, complex, and amazing characters, best characters in the game. And has been voted one of the best characters in the game by the Japanese audience as well in multiple surveys.
02:21:28
Speaker
Yeah, like next to Hythlodea is like Emmett Selk is like up there along with Zenos as well. So there's like my top three. to Two bad boys and us and a soft boy. Yeah. I mean, look, I got like a whole list of husbandos in that game. That game, they know what you're looking for with Y3s and husbandos, okay? They know what they're doing. We've got dragon girls. We've got cat girls. We've got bunny boys. We got...
02:21:57
Speaker
We got Rogadent girls, they they buff, they'll they'll lift you. They buff, they good looking, like they yeah they know, Square Enix knows what they're doing, okay. but most Most of the time, Dawn jail's pretty, Dawn jail's got into a lot of mixed stuff, but honestly, play it play it at your.
Final Fantasy XIV Spotlight
02:22:16
Speaker
Play it at your, play it, develop your own opinions. Don't listen to the internet masses. Well, again, it's setting up the foundation for the story for what's to come. Exactly. For the next 10 years. It really is. We're in it for the long run. They announced that they have another set of 10 years to come. We got 20 years left, like more to come. Yeah.
02:22:39
Speaker
I'm going to be like 50, 50, 60 years old playing Final Fantasy 14. Oh God. ah i can I can't wait for ah the us in our forties and fifties just to be like, Oh yeah, I still play. Oh God. Why am I giving myself like an old man voice? I'm not going to be that old. You know, I'm going to rub the bit. Hi. Yes. I still play Final Fantasy 14.
02:23:04
Speaker
It's got a free trial all the way up to level 150 with the Realm Reborn, Heaven's War, Stormblood, Shadowbringer. Just the goddamn game already. The copy past has gotten too long. Back in my day, Realm Reborn had like 200 quests. Back in my day, Sam Riegel voiced Alfano.
02:23:33
Speaker
Oh my god. ah ah Well, with that, ah we finally reached the end. Mido, thank you for coming on the... but this was Honestly, this was actually a really fun conversation that we had today. No, for sure. I had a lot of fun on here. Thank you for having me. Where can we find you on the internet?
02:23:51
Speaker
I am like everywhere on the internet. I feel like as a streamer, you have to be chronically online and everywhere, so no one takes your username. um But ah you can find me. Some of my handles have Minitaries TV in it. Some of it is just straight Minitaries. So if you just type in my name, I should pop up.
02:24:10
Speaker
um so yeah you'll find me um my bios tend to have something in the realm of horror games cosplaying and fellow fantasy 14 so if you see any of that in the bio and a girl from texas that's me um but i'm on youtube um ah tik to I have two accounts for YouTube, two two accounts for TikTok that kind of display either makeup um or gaming or cosplay and gaming, stuff like that. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Discord, everywhere. Threads, blue sky.
02:24:50
Speaker
Excellent. And of course, you can find me at Tony's Game Lounge Everywhere, Twitter, Blue Sky, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube. That's where you can find me. Brand new YouTube video out right now. But it's out now, so go watch it.
02:25:14
Speaker
ah where my boys, Zach and Nathan, lost their minds and just go watch the video. That's all I'll say. Minnow, thank you once again for coming on. Yeah, thank you for having me. I had so, so, so much fun.
02:25:31
